Storytelling

On the Story Route blog: stories, how we use them, what they mean, and why telling new stories can lead to change. Join me on the Story Route. We’ll explore personal stories, stories organizations tell, even some stories countries tell.

Storytelling workshops:

  • Storytelling for Change - Simple, effective methods for gathering and sharing stories that demonstrate change. The underlying principles apply equally to working with youth, seniors, immigrants or executives. Learn to develop an intentional, story-gathering approach within a project or organization. You know you do good work. This workshop gives you the tools for identifying, recording, analysing, and presenting stories that provide narrative evidence that your work improves community health and well being. [For a quick overview, check out the presentation Theresa Healy and I did for a workshop in 2003.]
  • Storytelling for Educators – Of all the skills that make teaching easier, storytelling heads the list. When students’ are listening, they can be taught. This lively and practical workshop teaches the basic techniques of good storytelling. Participants learn a small repertoire of tellable tales and leave with the inspiration to learn more—and the know-how to learn them quickly. [See StoryRoute for tips and techniques.]
  • Storytelling for the Next Generation – Stories share the beliefs, values—and juiciest tidbits—from one generation to another, not to mention giving us a headful of entertainment as we gather around the table or sit around a campfire. Whatever stories you want to pass on, you will gain the tools and inspiration to create a legacy.
